BOAT ASSISTED LESSONS
 soon to be available
for kitesurfing water lessons at
Long Beach, Santa Barbara, Lake Isabella etc.

  • RELIABLE WIND

Even if there is not enough wind at the shore, there is usually adequate wind further out at these locations.   Frequently, the wind increases gradually the further from shore you get, sometimes permitting us to select the best strength for your lesson.

  • STEADY WIND

Besides being much more reliable, the wind is frequently MUCH steadier further out from shore at these locations.   In fact, it is sometimes SUPER steady (less than 4 MPH wind range).

Steady wind not only makes learning to get up and ride MUCH EASIER, it also VASTLY SIMPLIFIES learning to GO UPWIND.  Being able to go upwind is the major goal once you can ride without falling.

  • FLAT WATER

These locations do NOT HAVE WAVES.   Also, chop is significantly reduced.   Although we strongly recommend learning how to deal with waves and chop, the additional problems associated with coping with these conditions can seriously hamper learning basic riding technique.

  • UNCROWDED WATER

Unfortunately, a major obstacle to learning kitesurfing in southern California is crowded beaches and/or sketchy launch areas.   By using a boat, we AVOID the DELAYS and ADDITIONAL DANGER associated with other beach/water users and problematic launch areas.

  • WE ARE CLOSER TO YOU

Our being closer to you not only ALLEVIATES ANXIETY, it significantly aids in instruction.   It is much EASIER FOR US TO SEE exactly what you are doing and therefore provide the most accurate and immediate feedback possible.

  • NO WALKING UP THE BEACH

Besides WASTING large amounts of LESSON TIME, walking up the beach wastes your ENERGY because it takes significant physical effort, especially in stronger wind.

  • LEARN DRIFT LAUNCHING TECHNIQUE

An unavoidable side benefit is that you learn how to safely drift launch a kite.   Besides allowing you to KITE FROM BOATS, this technique can sometimes make it practical for you to  kite at locations which have NO DECENT LAUNCH AREAS.

BOAT  ASSISTED  KITESURFING  LESSON

RATES

PLEASE NOTE:

Although we have been teaching kitesurfing/kiteboarding since 2001, our use of a boat is a new development and therefore the rates listed below are TENTATIVE and may vary without notice.

Furthermore, some clients may have special requirements and/or may wish to reserve the boat for more than one day.    This is especially true for Lake Isabella.    Therefore these rates are also NEGOTIABLE under some circumstances.

Also, although our policy for regular lessons is to NOT put strangers together for DISCOUNTED small group lessons, we WILL CONSIDER doing so for boat assisted lessons IF clients so desire in order to INCREASE AFFORDABILITY.

So please don't hesitate to call us to discuss your particular situation.

LESSON TIME DOES NOT START
until the boat has reached the spot

where the lesson is to start.

  • RATES FOR ONE PERSON:   (5/07/8)

1 hour = $150 - 200

2 hours = 275 - 350

3 hours = 325 - 425

4 hours = 400 - 500

  • RATES FOR TWO PEOPLE:

Add an additional 50% to the ONE PERSON rates above.

  • RATES FOR THREE PEOPLE:

Add an additional 25% to the ONE PERSON rates above.

VARIABLES  INFLUENCING  RATES:

SOME of the variables which we have so far identified which may influence the above ranges in the rates include:

  • Number of hours/days scheduled.

  • Travel time to the location.

  • Boat travel time to start spot.

  • Number of boat lessons scheduled that day.

  • Day(s) of week scheduled.

  • Time of day scheduled.

  • Number of participants per lesson.

  • Anticipated number of trips back and forth to the beach.

  • Skill level of participants.

  • Participants' use of their own equipment.

  • Amount of wind required/anticipated (low, medium or high).

  • How far in advance scheduled.

As you can see, besides the difficulty of fairly pricing each individual variable, there is a vast number of possible combinations which therefore make it impossible for us to give you exact pricing until we discuss your particular situation.
  • BOOKING BOAT ASSISTED KITESURFING LESSONS:

Please try to book your lesson AT LEAST 2 WEEKS in advance (the longer, the better).
