Windsurfers tend to pick up kitesurfing especially easily and many have either switched from windsurfing or added kitesurfing to their wind sport activities. As kitesurfers, they have less equipment to deal with, more exciting moves to perform and usually more opportunity to go out.

Likewise, since kitesurfing is similar to wakeboarding and water skiing but without the necessity of having a boat, wakeboarders and waterskiers frequently become avid kitesurfers relatively quickly.

Surfers tend to become kitesurfers in order to ride waves when the waves become too blown out for regular board surfing. However, after discovering that a kite allows them to catch many times the number of waves, perform more exciting moves and eliminate the dead time between waves, they usually end up surfing only when there isn't any wind.

Similarly, boogey boarders, bodysurfers, kayakers, etc. frequently want to expand their love of the water to include the excitement of kitesurfing.

For skiers and snowboarders, snowkiting is exploding as a fantastic new addition to winter fun and an introductory lesson may show them how their favorite sport can be taken to new levels. Skiing and snowboarding UPHILL is possible and jumping while going downhill produces extra long hang time. However, snowkiters aren't limited to crowded and expensive slopes - unused flat, obstacle free areas such as fields and even frozen lakes can be their private playgrounds.
